the meeting

a long table
sixteen chairs
fifteen neatly printed agendi
thirteen analysts
and programmers
and bosses
and sub-bosses
and non-bosses
and note-takers
arrive
some early
some late
fashionably or otherwise
murmuring quietly
speaking in one
murmuring unfathomable voice
quiet
loud
irritations unfolding
before our ears
and all the while
the purpose
for which we appear
fades away into nothingness
